The Point is delighted to announce that it has been successful in its bid for funding for its Artists’ Quarters business model for the support of emerging and early career artists.
The scheme encourages graduate retention in the PUSH (partnership for Urban South Hampshire) area and aims to lead to the establishment of new creative enterprises in the region. Partners in the development of Artists’ Quarters are The University of Winchester, Hampshire County Council and Eastleigh Borough Council who have all provided funding for the scheme.
Over two years, 8 artists or companies will be provided with business support and advice from The Point’s staff and other departments of Eastleigh Borough Council whilst being provided with shared office and production space within the venue.
The Point will provide access to professional business and arts advice, professional working space, scheduled access to studio and rehearsal space, theatre production time including technical support, tickets to performances, training and various meetings with Point staff who will work towards identifying and creating a portfolio of various projects and work opportunities whilst advising on their overall business plan.
Cheryl Butler Head of Culture for Eastleigh Borough Council says: “The aims of the Artists’ Quarters scheme are to; develop business practice and retain a creative workforce in the region, to support the development of artistic practices and to support creative companies in their bid to become sustainable businesses. We are delighted to be able to give this opportunity for new and emerging artists’ and companies and also that the South East region will benefit from the investment into new enterprise in the area.”
