PRENO’s Taki Jaffer said, ‘At PRENO, we support all ethnic minorities in the Portsmouth area and hope the event will be of real value to the aspiring entrepreneurs from these communities. We are absolutely delighted that Levi Roots is coming along to support local entrepreneurs in our community.’

The event is designed to raise awareness of people in the City’s black and minority ethnic communities of the business support available to explore self-employment and entrepreneurship.

Levi Roots commented, I am really looking forward to coming to Portsmouth and spicing things up with a little Caribbean inspiration!  It’s a great opportunity for local would be entrepreneurs to find out more about starting a business which is free and the PRENO and Business Link Enterprise Gateway team are there for advice and support. I hope my speech can inspire some of the local people to take the next step of starting their own business, like I have done.’

This is the latest in a series of Business Link events designed to deliver support to both existing businesses and potential new businesses.

Event organiser Simon Paine said, ‘There is a tremendous amount of entrepreneurial experience and talent in our black and minority ethnic communities and Black History Month provides us with the opportunity to find that talent and raise awareness of the help that’s available.’

The free event will take place on Saturday 31 October from 10am to 3pm at the Friendship Centre, Elm Grove, Portsmouth. There will be opportunities to listen to some inspirational speakers, talk to people who have already set up their own business and to find out more about taking the next step. Those interested in attending should pre-register for the event by calling PRENO on 023 9287 7189.
