A helping hand to the future...
We recently heard the good news that the UK is out of
recession. Despite this there are still more people
unemployed than we would like to see, and young people have found
it particularly difficult to get work.
The government has focused its efforts on ensuring that young
people get the start to their working lives that they deserve.

Recent schemes and events for young people include:
- the Young Persons
Guarantee from Job Centre Plus, ensuring 18-24 year olds are
offered a job, training or work experience
- The young apprentice grant which
offers a £2000 incentive to employers to take on a 16-17 year old
apprentice - contact Eastleigh College for more details
- SOLENT Skills Festival which
introduced hundreds of school pupils to a variety of career
choices.
Young people are tomorrow's workforce and they can bring energy,
enthusiasm and fresh ideas to workplaces today. We need
to act now to make sure that all young people get the opportunity
to lead happy and productive working lives.
